AW inspiration: Suzanne Moxhay
Suzanne Moxhay creates haunting photomontages, created from a layering and intricate gathering of details. Collected from an array of sources, from old interior magazines, to her own photographs of familiar interiors and also paintings. Using the old technique of matte painting, film backdrops painted directly on to glass to give the effect of far off landscapes. She painstakingly cuts out each of the details by hand and creates her own layering of a scene on to glass. The final image is a photograph of the photograph. Her artwork is often a statement of the breakdown of the inside and outside. The disruption of buildings which are then remade by nature. For me, they represent nature fighting back against the urban, where the final merged outcome is a new future of balance.
